As far as Olympic hosts go, few boast the bounty of cuisine and culture that rests on the doorstep of the joint hosts of next year’s Winter Olympic Games. Co-hosted by Milan and its alpine neighbour, 1956 host Cortina d’Ampezzo, the games promise to take in the grandeur of Northern Italy, from the sweeping plains surrounding Italy’s longtime cultural capital, up to the picturesque foothills, valleys and mountaintops that make the country’s far north one of the Winter Olympics’ most romantic longtime hosts.
Perhaps more importantly, with the last two winter games taking place in Beijing and rural Korea, this is the first Winter Olympics in a generation to truly feel, as the Summer Games in Paris did last year, like a destination event—one where spectators and visitors can bask not just in the sporting prowess of the competitors, but an entire nation’s worth of delicacies and cultural experiences.
Central to this, as they were last year, will be the games’ official hospitality partner, On Location. The sole hospitality provider for the Milano-Cortina games, the prestige sporting hospitality company is the trusted choice of sporting bodies and premium live events the world over—servicing discerning attendees not just of Olympic Games past, present, and future but also of the NFL, Ryder Cup, and UFC, to name just a few.
“Following the tremendous success of our hospitality programme at the Olympic & Paralympic Games Paris 2024, we are excited to bring the refined elegance of Northern Italy to our offerings for Milano Cortina 2026,” says Will Whiston, Executive Vice President of Olympic and Paralympic Games for On Location. Core to On Location’s offering in 2026 will be an all-encompassing concierge service for the most discerning winter sports fans – the first in the history of the Winter Games—genuinely opening up the wonders of Northern Italy for those regularly traversing the 400km stretch between the two cities.
Luxury accommodation and dining experiences, exclusive to On Location customers, will be made available to those simply visiting for a day or two or planning a more extended stay for a truly immersive games experience. Naturally, On Location has partnered with some of Italy’s most illustrious hotels and restaurants to ensure guests get an authentic taste of Italian luxury hospitality, with rooms at five-star hotels like ME Milan Il Duca readily available as guests build their own experience.
Of course, the company’s status as the sole official partner of the games ensures exclusive access to tickets for the Games’ most in-demand events, including ice hockey, figure skating, alpine skiing and snowboarding.
“The quality of hospitality we will offer for Milano Cortina 2026 has never been seen before at the Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games, or any winter sporting event in Italy,” adds Emilio Pozzi, Managing Director of On Location Italy. “We are proud to be the first to execute this level of experience in the nation’s history and show the world the exquisite culture, cuisine and landscapes of Italy.”
Flexibility and variety remain core to the On Location experience, with various packages catering for every need. On Location will offer hospitality packages for those wishing to attend individual events, as well as overnight stays bundling luxury accommodation and dining experiences into the package. For those eager to take in the full scale of the games, two, three and four night accommodation packages will also be made available, enabling visitors to take in as much sport, and as many of the charms of the two host regions, as possible.
