Hotel X Factor
New kid on the block gives guests a bird’s eye view of Brisbane’s fun-filled Fortitude Valley
There’s no doubt the James Street Precinct has energised Brisbane’s Fortitude Valley, and now Hotel X joins the ranks as a hip place for visitors to explore The Valley.
Conveniently located on Brunswick Street, Hotel X provides a sweet vinyl listening bar in the foyer featuring local Brisbane’s artists (Savage Garden anyone?) plus a rooftop for unwinding at the end of the day.
In the past year alone, the hotel has collaborated with music studios, festivals, breweries, wellness brands, tattoo parlours and artists from across the city.
Yet is must be said, one of the best things about this hotel is its terrific location. A short skip to the Story Bridge, bonafide foodies will find they can easily explore Howard Smith Wharves. Here there’s the gigantic Felon’s brewing for casual snacks and cold frothy beers, the modern Greek food joint Greca, Australian-Japanese fine diner at Yoko and the upscale Cantonese restaurant Stanley, with it’s refined interiors and top (ex-Longrain/EP & LP) chef Louis Tikaram.
In just 10 minutes taxi ride you can also be at the GOMA to explore contemporary art and this place to lay your head is also in striking distance of Andrew McConnell’s new Brisbane outpost: Supernormal.
Supernormal is a wonderful spot for a fancy dinner on the boardwalk level of the new residential tower 443 Queen Street where delicious food is served overlooking the Brisbane river.
Need a fashion hit? Then you can walk from Hotel X to the nearby James Street Precinct to shop Zimmermann, Nudie Jeans or Camilla & Marc, or pop to the fabulous CRU wine store for stocking up on wine or enjoying a lazy afternoon tipple.

Back at Hotel X, the Iris Bar and Spanish restaurant on the rooftop both operated by Ghanem Group cater to in-house guests, while the capacious rooms carry through a contemporary black and white theme.
Local drinks and pre-made cocktails fuel the mini bar and in the bathroom full-sized Karl Lagerfeld toiletries make the experience feel laid-back yet luxe.
Wrap-around views of the city infuse Hotel X with a feel that’s urban and fun. At Reception there are plenty of young staff to guide guests to the best local haunts and happenings; Expect an immersive travel experience showcasing the vibrant Valley arts and music scene at its electric best.
