IWC Marks A Milestone With A New Pared-Back Mark XX
The formative pilot’s watch celebrates 75 years in the cockpit with a minimalist edition.
Originally engineered for members of the British Royal Air Force three quarters of a century ago, the IWC Mark 11 formed the blueprint for modern pilot’s watches. The latest evolution of the Mark series, the IWC Mark XX, was introduced last year, with striking matte black and sunburst blue and green dials.
Now, IWC is rounding out the line-up with a decidedly reductionist take on the Pilot’s Watch Mark XX. Pared back to the essentials, the new IWC Pilot’s Watch Mark XX sees a white dial surrounded by a silver-plated case, outfitted with either a black leather strap or a five-link stainless steel bracelet.

Defined by a high-contrast, monochromatic design, the newcomer sees the Swiss manufacture’s classic sans serif Arabic numerals take form in black, alongside the signature triangular index at 12 o’clock. Luminescent elements on the dial work to ensure legibility in all conditions. Retaining its functional nature, the front glass of the timepiece is specially secured to remain in place in the event of a sudden pressure drop in the cockpit.
Like its 2022 siblings, the latest Mark XX features revised proportions—its slimmer, more curved lugs allow the 40mm timepiece to sit better on all wrists, as does shaving 2mm off the case thickness.

At the heart of the timepiece is the in-house calibre 32111. Equipped with a silicon escapement and a double pawl winding system, the automatic movement boasts a five-day power reserve.
The incorporation of the EasX-CHANGE system enables wearers to effortlessly switch between the leather strap and stainless steel bracelet.
The IWC Mark XX is priced at $8400 on the leather strap (Ref. IW328207) and $9800 for the stainless steel bracelet (Ref. IW328208) iteration.
