Lagoon, the French leader of recreational catamarans, has an enviable reputation for designing catamarans colloquially known as Condo-marans, thanks to the roomy layout and superior headroom their designs offer. At 18.27 metres long and with space to berth 12 people, the Lagoon 60 is impressive and ready to party. Want to spend two weeks sailing the Whitsundays? No problem. Need to pick up another bunch of people on your way up the coast? It’s a cinch. These sleek and curvy catamarans feel like upscale entertainers under sail.
Lagoon 60 is a significant extension of other popular designs by the brand, building on the reputation popular Lagoon 450, which was designed in 2014 as a cruiser for the European charter market.
Differing from a yacht in the spacious layout and sheer magnitude of entertaining areas, these sturdy vessels are like floating hotel suites with no compromises.
Unpacking the design, Lagoon 60 boasts a superstructure that holds a generous flybridge, saloon, galley, and upper and aft deck. Below, inside each of the hulls, the accommodation can comprise 4 or 5 cabins, two with ensuites.
It can easily accommodate two groups wanting to climb aboard for a longer holiday and is admirably equipped to sail the horizon and cross oceans. But with its sleek design and cruisy layout, most will want to stay close to the shore.
The Lagoon 60 is designed for days of swimming off the back, scuba diving and island hopping. Far less prone to heel, guests can sleep at night without seasickness from all that pesky yacht rocking. This is a boat to float and gloat.
To enjoy the water the Lagoon 60’s large body is fitted with wide open side terraces and a swim platform that’s turned toward the sea with wide, secure steps. Everything inside has been designed for easy movement; for example, a door connects the saloon and forward cockpit for guests and offers flush floorboards throughout. Without any obstruction, the cockpit is open and spacious, providing spectacular ocean views for the captain, and it has a rig that’s helluva easy to sail.
Lagoon 60 arrives from a well-credentialed maker—the world’s largest multihull builder, having produced over 5800 catamarans since its inception in 1984. All Lagoon boats are designed and produced in Bordeaux, France by Marc Van Peteghem and Vincent Lauriot-Prévost from the highly respected naval architecture firm VPLP Design.
Fresh off the production line, she’ll be presented for world premiere at the Lagoon shipyard, in Bordeaux during some exclusive showing days in March of 2024.
Start chasing your dreams, today aboard the Lagoon 60.
