Hublot And Nespresso Let You Drink Your Coffee And Wear It Too
The Swiss brands come together to create a caffeinated new timepiece with sustainability at its core.
Hublot and Nespresso have teamed up to create a timepiece. Made out of coffee. United by a shared passion for sustainability, the two seemingly heterogenous brands partnered through Nespresso’s Second Life program which sees the coffee company join forces with fellow Swiss brands to create new products from used aluminium capsules.

Taking a circular approach to watchmaking, the Hublot Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin sees coffee grounds and used aluminium capsules converted into watch parts. The 42mm case as well as the bezel, pusher, and crown of the Hublot Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin is made from recycled aluminium, 28 percent of which comes from discarded Nespresso capsules. The case is anodised in a vibrant green hue—the same shade as Nespresso’s Master Origins Peru Organic capsules—before being satin finished and polished. Topping off the—literal—capsule collaboration, is Nespresso’s instantly recognisable ‘N’ insignia engraved on the oversized crown.

Both the bottom of the case and the container are made from recycled titanium while the titanium deployant buckle on the rubber strap is adorned with a recycled aluminium cap.
Meanwhile, the colour-matched rubber strap utilises recycled coffee grounds from Nespresso capsules, fusing 4.1 percent coffee grounds and 8.2 percent recycled white rubber with the usual Hublot formula. In a similar fashion, the entirely recycled fabric strap is crafted from 5 percent coffee grounds and 95 percent recycled polyester — Hublot’s signature One-Click interchangeable strap system makes switching between the two a breeze.

The Hublot Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin is kept beating by the in-house HUB1280, with the automatic flyback chronograph movement boasting a 72-hour power reserve. The calibre is visible through the Big Bang Unico’s signature openworked dial.

Limited to 200 examples, each Hublot Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin is presented in a Hublot Greenbox case, a new development which will be used by the Swiss manufacture for future watch collections. Crafted entirely from oak, down to the hinges, it utilises traceable wood, which is sourced and produced in a manner that promotes shorter supply chains. Intended to be reusable, 98 percent of its detachable inside is composed of eco-friendly and recyclable materials. The Hublot x Nespresso collaboration sees the box decorated with the logos of both brands, affixed using coffee grounds.
The Hublot Big Bang Unico Nespresso Origin is priced at AUD$33,600 and is available now through the Hublot website and select boutiques.
