Hublot is not the Swiss watch manufacture that comes to mind when one thinks of the polo.
However, the luxury watchmaker has a relatively longstanding relationship with the sport, having served as the official timekeeper and headline sponsor for the Polo Gold Cup Gstaad for over a decade. Now, in honour of its post as the official timekeeper and scoreboard sponsor for the Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic, Hublot has joined forces with the champagne house for the fifth time to create a limited-edition timepiece.
Exclusive to the New York City boutique, the Hublot Big Bang Skeleton Tourbillion Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic unites the aesthetic codes of each maison. The skeletonised timepiece sees the Swiss manufacture’s distinct horological design codes fused with the French champagne house’s signature orange shade.
The newcomer features a 42mm tonneau-shaped matte black frosted case, accompanied by a black carbon caseback; the latter of which is engraved with ‘Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic’. The sapphire crystal dial showcases the skeletonised tourbillion movement within—the automatic in-house calibre HUB6020, which boasts an impressive five-day power reserve.
The timepiece is presented on either a black alligator leather strap with—Veuve Clicquot—orange stitching, or an orange alligator strap with black stitching.
“We are thrilled to announce our fifth limited-edition timepiece in collaboration with Veuve Clicquot as well as our partnership with the prestigious polo tournament for its exciting return to New York,” says Natacha Lamour, president of Hublot in the America. “Veuve Clicquot defines their brand by being ‘modern and audacious’, while living up to their motto of being the finest quality – a philosophy that continues to resonate with us at Hublot.”
The Hublot Big Bang Skeleton Tourbillion Veuve Clicquot Polo Classic is limited to five examples and is priced at approx. $157,900.
