Acquiring a Private Jet Mindset
Jet travel is fast becoming an of-the-moment business necessity.
Taylor Swift owns two Dassault Falcon 900s, Elon Musk rides in a Gulfstream G650ER, and the Hemmes family has a Cessna they call Gigi. Once the sole privilege of politicians and royalty, in 2023 high-flying execs of all stripes own planes.
For deep-pocketed potentates, the official word is that flying private saves them time, allowing them to achieve more. For others, their planes are simply ready and waiting in case of a last-minute overnight to New York, or a craving for late-night dim sum in Hong Kong.
Regardless of the motivation, a new world of private aviation has opened up, thanks to operators with fleets of Global’s Citations and G650s at their disposal.
This means that those without the same zeroes after their name as Elon and Tay-Tay, can relish the perks, without the outlay.
With headquarters in Hong Kong and bases around the world in various locations, Technologies d’Avant Garde (TAG) has been operating since 1966 and is well qualified to talk about the enduring appeal of flying private.
“Many of our clients need to get from point A to B without delay,” says TAG European CEO Joanne Goodall, sitting in the company’s offices in Farnborough, just outside of London. “Our clients recognise that it saves them valuable time and they want to avoid the strict check-in times and queues commanded by commercial airlines.”
“As a business jet partner, we are here to receive our clients’ requests and to support them every hour of the day, every day of the year. We’ve developed a team with procedures and a culture to ensure that we consistently meet the high expectations of our clients around the clock.”
“Over the years, we have made considerable investments in technology aimed at making the ownership and operation of our client’s aircraft as easy as possible. As you would expect of Technologies d’Avant Garde, innovation is a central part of our DNA.”
On the tarmac and ready to fly within 15 minutes, TAG provides fast, safe and reliable service, with all the trimmings.
With a strong presence in Asia, the company has locations in Singapore, Hong Kong, Beijing, Macau, Shenzhen,
London is covered via its base in Farnborough, the hometown of British Aviation. In Switzerland, it has offices in Geneva, and in the rest of Europe, as well as outposts in Malta, San Marino, Bahrain, and the Cayman Islands.
They must be doing something right, because TAG was awarded the AsBAA Best Charter Brokerage in November 2023 and for the six years prior to 2020 was awarded Best Aircraft Management of the Year.
Goodall adds that TAG’s service excellence ensures that each new client they serve quickly becomes addicted to the subtle pleasures of flying privately with them.
As to whether jet travel could be called a lifestyle, she’d like to correct the record, explaining, “It’s a mindset.”
