This New 100-Metre Sailing Yacht Concept Is Topped With an All-Glass ‘Space Deck’
The A100 offers the interior volume of a similar-sized mega-yacht, too.
Sailing yachts usually offer far less real estate than super-yachts, but Van Geest Design and Rob Doyle Design are hoping to change that with the A100 concept.
The new 100-metre sailing yacht features a novel exterior layout that significantly increases interior volume to match that of a similar-sized motor yacht, according to the two studios.
The side decks or walkways that typically connect the aft to the bow on sailing yachts have been removed, meaning that the interior of the main deck can stretch across the full length of the beam. The result is a sprawling open-plan living area that includes an expansive full-beam owner’s suite, a light-filled saloon, a formal dining area, and a plush cinema/library. These spaces are fitted with large panoramic windows and also flow seamlessly into the enclosed aft deck, creating that highly desirable indoor-outdoor feel.

The lower deck is dedicated to guests and crew, featuring beautifully appointed cabins for your inner circle and discreet crew and service areas. It is also home to a fully equipped dive room and generous toy storage. More toys (and two large tenders) can be stored forward on the main deck, making it easy to get out on the water and have some fun.
The pièce de résistance, though, is the upper deck, or what the designers call the “space deck.” Covered almost entirely in glass, the light and airy expanse hosts the bridge and a spacious open or enclosed lounge that can also serve as a gym and wellness area. To the aft lies an alfresco dining space that overlooks a generous open deck with a collection of sunpads for catching rays.

The designers say the technical areas are also engineered with precision, ensuring “seamless operation.” The yacht is envisioned with a high-performance DynaRig sailing system comprising two freestanding rotating masts that will provide an “effortless and secure” cruising experience, according to the team. The yacht is also equipped with an advanced energy ecosystem that harnesses power from wind and water.

This isn’t the first time the two studios have collaborated on a space-maximising design. In 2022, the duo unveiled a 40-metre trimaran concept with double the interior space of a catamaran. Clearly, they know space is a premium at sea.
