Bowers & Wilkins Elevates The 800 Series To Signature Status
The British auditory company gives two of its key models the Signature treatment, complete with upgraded componentry and elevated finishes.
Good news for all the audiophiles out there—Bowers & Wilkins have taken their 800 series to the next level. Since the British auditory company’s inception in 1966, just seven series have been bestowed with the ‘Signature’ label, which is used to distinguish rare and radically upgraded versions of its conventional loudspeakers and technologies. A reflection of prestige and exclusivity, the name points to the acclaimed Silver Signature loudspeaker; released in 1991, it was developed as a posthumous tribute to founder John Bowers.

The new 801 D4 Signature and 805 D4 Signature build off the performance benchmarks and aesthetic cues put forward by their base models, enhancing them by adding upgraded componentry and elegant new finishes. Representing the epitome of Bowers & Wilkins approach to auditory design, the heritage British company is billing the duo as its new flagships.
The 801 D4 Signature is a powerful three-way floorstanding loudspeaker. It retains the Diamond Dome tweeter and Continuum cone FST midrange drivers, but upgrades the twin bass drivers and crossovers, while adding a new aluminium grille mesh for greater transparency and stiffness, promoting better in-room sound quality.

The port output is now case from aluminium, creating a stiffer and quieter structure less prone to port noise which, in combination with the updated bass drivers, delivers lower distortion and more accurate sounding bass. The 805 D4 Signature incorporates the same upgrades in a more compact form than its floorstanding sibling.

Both Signature 800 series models are exclusively available in Midnight Blue Metallic or California Burl Gloss wood veneer finishes. Sold in pairs, the 801 D4 Signature is priced at $79,900 while the 805 D4 Signature will set you back $19,900.
