Hands On: Seamaster Planet Ocean Worldtimer
Omega again redefines luxury sports watches with the release of a robust new masterpiece.
Omega’s Seamaster Planet Ocean collection’s 2005 release created quite a splash. The buzz is set to continue with the introduction into the Planet Ocean fold of the Worldtimer complication, the ultimate traveller’s watch reimagined in ceramic form. The muscular new Worldtimer arrives in turquoise or grey 45.5 mm options (it’s a big boy!) and features a ceramic bezel and laser-ablated diving scale polished in positive relief.
At the dial’s centre is a grade 5 titanium base with a world map viewed from above the North Pole. The outer section has a 24-hour indication, and black-and-white sections indicate night and day.
As with other Planet Ocean releases, these Worldtimers are water-resistant up to 600m and outfitted with a helium-release valve for deep diving. In other words, it is an eminently capable watch that’s fit for purpose and handsome to boot. $24,600; omegawatches.com
