Pininfarina Teamed up With a Swedish Brand to Create a New All-Electric Snowmobile
Vidde’s Alfa all-electric snowmobile takes on harsh conditions, sans emissions.
Sustainable snowmobiling just got a little easier.
Swedish manufacturer Vidde has opened reservations for its new all-electric Alfa Electric Snowmobile, which the the brand claims is “the world’s cleanest snowmobile.” Designed in collaboration Italian coachbuilder Pininfarina, it offers a sleek aerodynamic design, complemented by cool-toned hues like white, gray and orange. The snowmobile also includes futuristic front and rear-end lights, plus a windshield that keeps your vision clear.

The Alfa snowmobile is powered by a 130kW electric motor that delivers 400 newton metres of torque at the rear tracks. For those of you who like to tow toys, you’ll appreciate its pulling power of 269 kg. Re-charge takes around 3.5 hours. You’ll get around 100km of range per charge, and according to Vidde this horsie will run in tempertures as low as -35 Celsius, which should get you safely back to the chalet after happy hour. The Alfa pre-series is being tested this year.

Of course, the Alfa isn’t the first electric snowmobile to hit the market. Taiga’s 2022 Nomad is credited as the world’s first electric snowmobile. It’s a much more utilitarian beast, with a wide body and high towing capacity, designed more for lugging a season’s worth of supplies up to the lodge, than for scooting you and a friend around the village or slopes.
Prices for the Vidde Alfa snowmobile start at around $43,500. You can reserve yours now via the brand’s website.
