David Yurman jewellery collection launches in Australia

Iconic ‘Cable’ collection headlines several collections in chains, rings, bracelets, necklaces and diamond pieces.

Around 30 years ago, New York jewellers David and Sybil Yurman created a motif that may never go out of style. Sculptor David and wife Sybil, an artist, refined the form of the woven cable that has now become the brand’s signature across several jewellery collections.

Venerable Sydney jeweller Fairfax & Roberts has become the brand’s first Australian distributor – although CEO Georgina Brujic confessed to being a long-time fan of the brand’s iconic and instantly recognisable lines.

David Yurman’s mastery of form dates back to his career as a sculptor, apprenticed to masters Jacques Lipschitz and Theodore Rozakin in the late-1960s. It was in 1969 that he met his future partner Sybil, a painter. The spark between them was more than romantic; their combined senses of form, light and colour would be expressed in beautiful artworks.

In 1983, their fledgling jewellery business launched the Cable collection of bracelets, the design inspired by the twisted linear motif employed throughout history in the architecture and decorative arts of many civilisations.

The Cable design has provided a canvas for Yurman to explore combinations of metals, colours and stones, and often appears in subtle (or even hidden) forms on others of the brand’s pieces.

Fairfax & Roberts will feature a wide assortment of David Yurman’s most iconic and classic collections, including Cable pieces in 18k gold and sterling silver, Chatelaine, Solari, Pure Form, Supernova and Stax, as well as the delightfully colourful (and design-patented) Pavé Pinky rings.

The Castlereagh St, Sydney store will carry new collections such as Barrels, Bel Aire chains and Paveflex, which features exceptional diamond pieces as well as youthful and exciting styles with vivid colour accents. The assortment of pieces has been specially curated for the Australian market.
