David Beckham. Becks. Soccer deity, style icon, entrepreneur and now ambassador for Italian automotive brand Maserati, has tried his hand at supercar designer.
With the help of the Maserati Centro Stile, the Inter Miami soccer club founder has crafted an MC20 that serves as a love letter to ‘The Magic City’ and has been exclusively revealed to Robb Report.
The project is part of Maserati’s Fuoriserie customisation program, which allows customers to create their tailor-made Maserati. It’s here the former England captain — after a personalised and collaborative design process — created the MC20 Fuoriserie Edition for David Beckham.
The bespoke supercar sees a black and pink chromatic dichotomy that echoes the colours of Beckham’s Miami soccer club.
Elsewhere the Trident logos on the grille and C-Pillar are finished in black, but with an opaque finish. The Maserati lettering on the rear is also opaque while the MC20 badge on the door is pastel pink, as are the Brembo brake callipers.
Inside, the car is treated to leather and Alcantara in black with pink contrast stitching. The backrest, in Alcantara, are worked with a tone-on-tone laser engraving method and the headrest features a three-dimensional pastel pink embroidery.
Within the centre tunnel comes a personalised nameplate with a glossy-matte effect that sees the Maserati Fuoriserie lettering in pastel pink alongside the italics “For David” with an aluminium effect.
True to form, the MC20 is powered by the patented V6 petrol engine within a carbon fibre monocoque capable of 463kW and 0-100km/h in under 2.9 seconds.
“I have always been a car enthusiast, so to be part of designing and creating my MC20 through the Fuoriserie customisation program has been an amazing experience,” said Beckham.
“It has been incredible to collaborate with the Maserati team and designers to create this one-off car that is inspired by my second home, Miami and my football club there. It is a joy to be behind the wheel,” he added.
