TAG Heuer and Porsche are two luxury brands racing towards the future.
Now, the pair — that formally cemented a partnership in 2021 — has released a luxury smartwatch together, inspired by the all-electric Porsche Taycan. Introducing the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4 – Porsche Edition.
Much like the TAG Heuer Connected Calibre E4, the Porsche Edition’s case comes in at 45mm and features a matte blasted titanium case softened by faceted lugs and chamfered case sides.
The addition of a ‘Frozen Blue’ hue, used by Porsche on its all-electric Taycan, is found on the tapering pushers and rubberised crown alongside lacquered touches on the ceramic bezel.
As with other members of the Connected Calibre E4 family, the Porsche Edition offers a broad range of sensors including a heart rate monitor, a compass, an accelerometer, a gyroscope, a barometer, and a microphone, along with an embedded NFC chip for seamless use with touch-free pay systems. Further, the watch still gives access to TAG Heuer’s ever-growing ecosystem of exclusive sports, wellness apps and watch faces.
The watch shows off technical improvements across the board compared to the previous generations with a brighter screen, better contrast, and a battery life 30% longer than previous models.
“For both TAG Heuer and Porsche, the thrill of driving is part of our heritage, and this watch celebrates the fearless spirit of both maisons — as well as highlights the sustainable innovation of the Taycan,” says Frédéric Arnault, CEO of TAG Heuer.
Further, for owners of most 2022 and newer Porsches, the watch will display a number of ‘complications’. By connecting the watch to the Wear OS My Porsche app, indications of the Porsche’s car battery alongside ‘car autonomy’ which tells you the remaining kilometres of the car, controls of the heating and air-conditioning and the final, total car kilometres.
Additionally, via the timepiece’s OLED touchscreen dial, comes a “Circuit” face option with more Frozen Blue highlights — a feature that is exclusively available to this timepiece.
The watch is strapped to the wrist via a carbon-like black calfskin with blue stitching – echoing the leather finishing inside the Porsche Taycan and is priced at $4000.
