In hopes of further exploring Montblanc’s mountain themed branding, the German manufacture has enlisted leading explorer and alpinist Reinhold Messner for its latest timepiece.
For the uninitiated, Messner is an all-star mountain climber, with a CV that holds titles such as the first person to summit Everest solo and without supplemental oxygen and the first person to climb all fourteen 8000+ metre peaks in the world.
For his next adventure, Messner has come together with Montblanc on a limited-edition watch, the Montblanc 1858 Geosphere Messner Limited Edition.
The new watch rides the line expertly between a functional sport watch and old-world watch design with a deep blue colourway dominating the piece through a gradient navy-blue dial and dark blue nylon NATO strap complemented by the bronze case of the 42mm timepiece.
The ceramic bezel insert and rose gold accents on the hemispheres of the dial add further contrast while creating an eye-catching mix of functions with the date at 3’oclock, and second time zone at 9’oclock while two global hemispheres are found at 12 and 6’oclock positions.
The titanium caseback sees an intricate engraving the Mont Blanc mountain and a list of the Seven Summits (the tallest mountains on each of the seven continents). Also depicted is a pair of crossed ice axes, a compass, and Reinhold Messner’s signature
The Montblanc 1858 Geosphere is limited to just 262 units and is priced at $9680.
