As the 2019 Formula 1 season only just wraps up in Abu Dhabi this weekend, Lewis Hamilton long ago tied up his sixth world championship, further etching himself into motorsport history.
And while the Mercedes-Benz pilot is known for leading the pack on the circuit, he’s also got a knack for setting the pace out of the car as a style icon.
Hamilton, in collaboration with IWC has designed the IWC “Lewis Hamilton” Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Edition. Limited to 100 watches, the piece combines a black ceramic case and a Bordeaux-red dial with crown and case back ring both made of 18-carat 5N gold.
“This partnership with IWC was incredibly exciting for me, and it’s been an honour to collaborate so closely with the watchmakers in Schaffhausen,” says Hamilton. “Together, we’ve designed a beautiful timepiece which combines two things I am really passionate about – craftsmanship and design – and I am so pleased with the result.”
Making a statement on wrist, the piece sits at a bold 46.5mm, with a Bordeaux red strap complementing the face of the watch and gold-plated hands and dial markings all pointing to Hamilton’s flamboyant expressions of luxury.
Underneath all the flash, the IWC 53615 manufacture calibre ensures the accuracy of the piece. With a power reserve of seven days, the watch displays the date, day, month and year to four figures alongside the lunar phase.
The IWC “Lewis Hamilton” Big Pilot’s Watch Perpetual Calendar Edition is priced at $75,500.
