Fancy yourself as a fisherman? Then cast a line into the pristine waters of New Zealand’s Lake Taupo for the inaugural Huka Lodge Fly Fishing Tournament, to be held from 29 to 31 August. Headquartered in the luxurious Huka Lodge, the exclusive three-day tournament – limited to just 50 participants – is in partnership with experience providers Chris Jolly Outdoors, whose knowledgeable local guides will help bring you an unmatched angling experience.
Huka Lodge, first established as a fishing camp in the 1920s, has long been acclaimed for its exceptional angling and generous hospitality. With the area known as a hot-spot for rainbow and brown trout, the 2019 tournament will make for a dynamic angling event.
Celebrity chef and keen fisherman Al Brown will be joining the event and will act as MC for the prize-giving dinner. The NZ$13,000 (around $12,400) tournament prize pool includes items from local heritage brand Kilwell Sports Ltd, along with Orvis goods, Rodd & Gunn bespoke products and an amazing Helisika heli-fishing adventure.
Huka Lodge will ensure that all anglers are well wined and dined throughout their stay with a five-course dinner, proceeded by a Louis Roederer Champagne station as well as a tutored Glenfiddich ‘Highland Tasting’ featuring seven rare whisky releases and a ‘Tour de France’ dinner with matching French Wines, all taking place over the three-day event.
