7 can’t-miss gifts for the style-savvy man (who already has everything)

From boots to gloves, these gifts will score points with any fashion lover.

Figuring out what to get the sartorially obsessed gent on your list can be tough. After all, his tastes are exacting, and if he’s said he likes something, he’s probably already snapped it up for himself. This year, we’re helping you to think outside of the box, tracking down gifts that are supremely stylish, but may not be things your fashionisto would indulge himself with on a regular shopping spree. Read on to discover seven gifts—ranging from seriously luxe loungewear to technology-driven fragrance—that are sure to please even the most discerning dressers.

Hard-wearing, hiking–inspired boots are a trend that is far too practical to be going anywhere fast, and the Still ankle boot (US $1200) from Hermès is a particularly good example of the style’s ability to balance form and function. Their fine calfskin uppers feature subtle details like the brand’s “Ex-Libirs” crest carefully embossed on the side and eye-catching white contrast stitching around the laces. Chunky black soles and a ribbed ankle section keep them from feeling too precious—and ensure your intended will be able to wear them on even the harshest winter days for seasons to come.

Derek Rose

It doesn’t get more classic than giving someone snuggly soft loungewear for Christmas. But this year skip the clichéd flannel, and instead dial up the style factor with an ultra-luxe robe from Derek Rose. The British brand is known for its handsome take on loungewear, and this lush handmade tasseled belt silk robe (above right, £833) is exactly the kind of thing it does best. Or, if you’re planning to be in London before the holidays, you can pop into its Knightsbridge store to tailor the brand’s iconic Duke robe exactly to your intended’s tastes (above left, £2,450).

Though fragrance another classic holiday gift, getting it exactly right can prove to be supremely difficult. Thankfully, Hermetia—a new brand by the founders of Memo International—helps take some of the guesswork out of the equation. Answer a few quick questions about your intended (think their ideal weekend plans, where they go to getaway, etc.), and the brand will recommend fragrances ranging from the crisp Spiceair, which features cinnamon and bergamot essence tempered with green moss and cedarwood, to Source1, a fresh mix of bergamot, amber and wood that serves as the base for each of the brand’s 13 fragrances (prices range from US$195-$225, and all are available to purchase at Bloomingdales). Each is made using an innovative alcohol-free formula that allows the top-, mid-, and base notes to surface and settle much more quickly than they do in traditional fragrances and feature eco-friendly refillable bottles.

Loro Piana

Though the stylish man on your list probably has a carefully considered glove wardrobe, there’s always room for another pair—especially if that pair is made of vicuña like Loro Piana’s Monaco gloves (ÙS$1,495). Here, the rare, softer-than-cashmere fabric is paired with textured capybara leather on the palms, which helps increase the style’s durability without sacrificing style. The result is a subtly luxurious and suitable for everyday wear, something that is sure to help your fashion fiend feel a little bit more put together in the mad-dash after New Year.

John Hardy

Bali-based brand John Hardy has long been the go-to for worldly, bohemian-leaning jewellery that pairs as easily with a t-shirt and trunks as it does with a sport coat. This classic chain wrap bracelet (from $943) is no exception—mixing an intricately detailed silver chain (one of the brand’s signatures) with a strand of rich tiger’s eye beads. The combination of colours and textures means it will slot easily into most wardrobes, making it an almost guaranteed win on Christmas Day.

Stubbs & Wootton

Though a smoking slipper makes the cut as one of our must-have shoes, we understand that the dandyish style is typically not what most men are chomping at the bit to invest in—which is exactly why it makes such a great gift. Stubbs & Wootton has one of the widest selection of slippers out there, with styles ranging from classic velvet to more daytime appropriate leather and linen. We’d suggest leaning into the style’s debonair roots and customising a pair for your intended with the brand’s easy-to-use online bespoke service (from US$550). You can home in exactly on their style, choosing everything from the shape of the toe box and the material for the upper to the exact shade of grosgrain you’d like them to be trimmed in. Plus, there are hundreds of different classic monograms and playful motifs to emblazon them with, adding an extra personal touch.

Halcyon Days

We admit that an enamel box from Halcyon Days is not a fashion item per se, but we’re willing to bet that the fashion-lover on your list could use a chic place to store their collection of cufflinks or keepsakes. Though the London–based brand—which specialises in fine enameled copper (an extremely popular technique in the late 18th century that the Halcyon Days has helped revive) and English bone china—has plenty of covetable boxes ready to purchase today, we’d again suggest going bespoke. Through brand’s bespoke gifting service (from US$850), you can create one perfectly designed to suit their exact needs and tastes and Halycon Days’ artisans can adorn the lid of the box with artist’s renditions of their favourite place, pet, or even the pattern of their favorite pocket square.
