HYT Is Back With A New Timepiece
The Hastroid Green Nebula marks the return of the brand.
Less than a year ago, HYT announced it was going out of business.
The news left horology fans longing as the Geneva-based watchmaker provided acute levels of innovation to an industry that prizes originality and ingenuity.
However, HYT’s death was short-lived with a new owner emerging, quickly installing a new CEO at the helm in Davide Cerrato (formerly head of design at Montblanc and Tudor) and launching a new timepiece, the Hastroid Green Nebula.
And into the future HYT gazes with the latest watch landing with new language — ‘Meca-Fluidic Technology’ replacing the nomenclature for the liquid indication system the manufacture is famous for.
The timepiece is a nod to the first HYT Watch, the H1, with its green and black colourway and comes in at 48mm-wide, 17.2 mm thick and 52.3mm from lug to lug.
The watch’s case is produced from black-coated titanium and features segments of carbon throughout to further its futuristic allure.
While HYT’s DNA still is front and centre, with the timepiece’s liquid hour indication, the design language has been tweaked to mix the classic HYT aesthetic with new levels of functionality.
Here, the flourishes of the timepiece are found in the case shape, the mixture of textures and finishes, the sapphire crystal dial and open worked movement.
Through the open worked movement, we get a glimpse of the 501-CM movement (offering a 72-hour power reserve) and the bellows and capillaries that afford the watch its unique system.
The black-coated movement is contrasted against the lime green luminescent indications of the hours, with the minute markers sitting within the bezel, and is complemented by the manufacture’s matching green rubber strap.
Only 27 watches will be produced with a price of approx. $107,522. Hytwatches.com
