Collaborations are hot in the luxury world; one only needs to look at the recent Fendi x Versace fashion show to sense the climate.
First teaming up in 2016, Swiss manufacture Hublot and French artisans Berluti have once again worked together on a fifth watch — an alluring new 44mm timepiece, the Big Bang Unico Berluti Aluminio.
Limited to just 100 pieces comes a watch crafted with Venezia leather at the heart of the polished titanium bezel and dial with the words “Swiss Made” gauffered directly on the surface.
Hublot has cleverly integrated the leather between two pieces of sapphire glass, which has been cut to reveal the gears of the in house Unico movement, replete with a 72-hour power reserve and 100-metre water resistance.
To achieve this, the manufacture has fashioned a two-part bezel design. The first piece of the bezel, made of leather stiffened by a rigid resin, is inserted on the second piece of grey titanium, and then screwed on the case of the watch. Over time, this design promises a patinated look.
The use of leather is not the only unique material on show, with Hublot choosing titanium for the case and deployant clasp, resign for the central horn, tungsten for the oscillating weight and satin-finished rhodium for the hands.
Unsurprisingly the strap of the watch arrives in leather. More specifically it comes in a burnished and a patinated Aluminio Venezia leather, the latter of which sees Berluti’s Scritto motif and is exclusively available in Japan.
Priced at $35,100, the unique timepiece is sure to sell quickly. Hublot.com
