Bridging the gap between the past and the future is a delicate tightrope act that many have failed to master.
Not so with Montblanc.
The legendary luxury craft goods maker has now created a way for traditional watch lovers to straddle the modern day digital advancements while still honouring the past.
The TWIN Smart Strap is an accessory that can be attached to most timepieces, giving them an instant and elegant digital upgrade. The strap features a small digital accessory in the spot where the traditional clasp was positioned, providing wearers with all the necessary smartwatch essentials.
These include the ability to link up to your phone and receive notifications, track your fitness and also serve as a mobile payment service, thanks to the new Montblanc Pay platform.

Montblanc CEO, Nicolas Baretzki, said the concept of the Smart Strap was born after the company took note of consumers’ changing needs.
“The idea of a Smart Strap is rooted in the growing desire for digital functionalities to be added to classic timepieces, which are emotional objects with deep history and meaning to their owners,” he said.
He continued: “That is why we developed a smart solution that can be attached to most timepieces of any brand. The timepiece remains untouched, while Montblanc TWIN Smart Strap is the innovative companion that elegantly enhances this relationship.”
TWI Smart Straps are available in both leather and nylon in 20 or 22mm lug widths. For technophiles, battery life should last for up to one week.
