Keep Your Hands Clean With These 5 Luxurious Soap and Lotion Sets
These luxurious alternatives turn necessary protection into momentary pleasure.
By Justin Fenner 16/03/2020
It’s not a good look to be glib or punny in the midst of a global pandemic, so we’ll just start here: Washing your hands is an important part of an overall strategy in fighting the spread of Covid-19, the novel coronavirus which, as of publication, had sickened over 150,000 people around the world, and at least over 299 in Australia.
In fact, it’s so important that the World Health Organization recently put it at the top of a list of things we can do as individuals to protect ourselves and others—so it’s not surprising that lots of people are doing it more frequently. (If you don’t have immediate access to soap and water, WHO notes that alcohol-based sanitisers are useful.) And if you’re going to lather up more often, it might as well be something you look forward to doing.
With that in mind, we’ve rounded up a selection of hand washes and coordinated moisturizers, some sold as sets, that can turn a necessary task into a momentary pleasure—and can help you avoid the dried-out digits that often come as a result of frequent lathering up. From Aesop’s beloved exfoliating soap and lotion duo to a Byredo’s indulgent Suede set, here are a few duos that can keep your hands clean and healthy with proper use.
Aesop Reverence Duet
This set features an exfoliating soap that you may find especially helpful—frequent hand washing can skin on your hands look and feel drier, and sloughing off dead skin can help mitigate that. Both the soap and the lotion have a pleasant mandarin scent.

Tom Dixon London Hand Duo
Tom Dixon does a lot more than craft sculptural lighting and geometric glassware: The British designer’s home fragrance line includes this attractive soap-and-lotion set, which was designed to evoke the smell of London. It scores bonus points for its decidedly not-greasy hand balm.

Grown Alchemist Hand Care Kit
In their shiny chrome-like bottles, Grown Alchemist’s hand-care duo look nearly identical at first glance. But they do differ slightly: The soap boasts scents of cedar, sage and orange, while the lotion features both orange and vanilla.

Byredo Suede Hand Soap and Lotion
While Byredo doesn’t sell its Suede hand care products as a set, they smell so indulgently good (like bergamot, amber, musk and a number of other flowers), you might not mind having to buy them separately.

Le Labo Hinonki Hand Soap and Hand Lotion
Le Labo isn’t necessarily responsible for the world’s obsession with hinoki. The distinctly alluring Japanese cypress wood smells so good it’s been turned into candles, body washes and even chipped into sachets that can soak with you in a bathtub. But the French fragrance brand does do a good job of distilling the scent into a variety of products, including this excellent hand soap and moisturizer.
