Penfolds
Wine lovers rejoice — Penfolds is making a bold Birdcage debut with its first-ever marquee. Continuing its new space-themed narrative, ‘Venture Beyond’, the prestigious wine maker – indeed, one of the country’s most luxurious brands – has designed an ‘out-of-this-world’ experience for guests who will journey through four transformative and sensory spaces: ‘Glasshouse,’ ‘Central Bar,’ ‘Total Eclipse’ and ‘Outer Space.’
Naturally, guests will be treated to some of the best drops label has to offer, beginning the day with crisp whites from the Adelaide Hills and beyond, building to the grand release of the 100-point Grange 2018. The unique wine experience will be enhanced thanks to a curated menu by Magill Estate executive chef, Scott Huggins, designed to pair perfectly with the respective wines on offer.
LANDMARK by Lexus
Lexus has been the official naming rights sponsor of the Melbourne Cup for five years, and will this year celebrate is 20th year in partnership with the Victoria Racing Club.
To mark the milestone, the marque is further elevating what’s gone before.
Enter ‘LANDMARK by Lexus’ — a sustainably-designed, three-storey marquee by the globally renowned Architect, Koichi Takada.
Guests will journey through an unforgettable trackside oasis of various immersive experiences. The focus here, beyond what’s built, is food with nibbles by renowned artisanal butcher Victor Churchill alongside a refined three-course menu from the team at Etta. Bespoke and sculptural displays from Sydney’s experiential florists, Hermetica, will also be in abundance.
Elsa Pataky, the Spanish actress and wife of Chris Hemsworth, will be the honorary guest to join the LANDMARK by Lexus marquee on Derby Day.
G.H. Mumm
French champagne house G.H.Mumm will return to its perch in the Birdcage with arguably its most ambitious marquee to date.
The luxury maison will open the gates to its double-storey ‘Le Jardin de la Maison Mumm’ which is richly inspired by the manicured gardens of Paris.
Mumm has a long-standing relationship with the Melbourne Cup Carnival, being the official champagne sponsor for the past 13 years. This year, guests will revel in the celebratory milestone thanks to culinary treats by hatted chef Joel Bickford, who will offer an Australian spin on traditional French cuisine. The invite-only space will also allow guests to discover G.H. Mumm’s most prestigious cuvées – RSRV.
Mumm has also partnered with renowned Australian fashion designer Michael Lo Sordo to customise a one-off racewear outfit in the label’s famed red coloour, with international supermodel Duckie Thot to lead celebrations as the official Mumm ambassador at this year’s Melbourne Cup Carnival.
Kennedy
Not only is ‘Millionaire’s Row’ prime real estate within the Birdcage — thanks to its exceptional vantage point of the racetrack — but it’s likely the spot where you’ll find the Birdcage’s most important guests.
It makes sense then that luxury watch jewellery retailer Kennedy finds itself in this prime corner of the Birdcage for the very first time.
As with all that Kennedy does, expect a luxurious trackside experience. The completely reimagined exterior will showcase select watches and jewellery from some of the world’s biggest brands (think Jaeger-LeCoultre, Piaget, Panerai). On the ground floor, you’ll find delectable dining staples from
Food & Desire with the impressive mezzanine and upstairs levels boasting a dedicated bar with unparalleled views of the all the racing action.
