Spectacular views call for spectacular interiors
A confident sexiness that can hold its own with the hard-to-match views it overlooks.
An interior revamp by Edge Design Consultants in collaboration with nexa projects has given a luxury apartment in Sydney residential tower, The Hyde a confident sexiness that can hold its own with the hard-to-match views it overlooks.
With the Sydney Opera House, St Mary’s Cathedral, ANZAC Memorial, Woolloomooloo and the Garden Island naval base providing a stunning backdrop, inside, the design brief for Edge was to connect old world glamour with cutting-edge modernity.
“Our clients gave us full rein to create a space that not only was deserving of its location, but reflective of their unique personalities,” said Charlie Rizk, principal designer and director of Edge Design Consultants. “The finished product reflects our passion for art and bespoke design. The walls are an art piece in themselves created by layered materialisation, resulting in a space that’s artistic yet elegant, luxurious and functional.”
Nowhere is this more apparent than in the music room, given drama and detail with custom-made joinery and a mirrored ceiling.
All the furniture and soft furnishings in the apartment were either custom designed and fabricated or imported from New York or Los Angeles. For example, plaster internal doors were handcrafted in a crocodile pattern by Italian manufacturer nova, solid brass door hardware was created by New Zealand designer Chant, joinery handles made from pure buffalo horn by mood Australia, and baths and vanities were custom-coated by Axolotl in a bronze viper pattern. Bed linen was custom-made by Heirlooms Fine Linens, which carries a Royal Warrant from Queen Elizabeth II, and styling pieces from Jonathan Adler, Greg Natale, Georg Jensen, L’objet, Worlds Away, and John-Richard added the finishing touches with texture and glamour.
