Smeg cooks up a treat for its 70th birthday

Named the ‘Portofino’ to help capture the ambience of the Italian Riviera, this world’s most energy-efficient large-format cooker is the first launch product celebrating Smeg’s 70th birthday year.

Speed and efficiency are in no way sacrificed for style. The Portofino can heat to a whopping 200 degrees centigrade in just six minutes, without the temperature fluctuations and hot spots that hinder other ovens.

Smeg’s technological advances in the Portofino extend to 16 cooking modes and 20 automatic pre-set recipes that allow ‘set and forget’ cooking. And those who truly enjoy entertaining are in luck – the Portofino offers extra elements that can be connected including a tilting grill, rotisserie attachment and optionally fitted pizza stone. Be prepared for the appreciative glances, too, as the six-burner gas hob is equipped with perfectly flat cast iron trivets – a design similar to a professional hob, which allows pans to be slid around across the cooking top, rather than having to be lifted.

It’s also a comfort to know that the Portofino is cool-to-touch, even when it’s been baking for hours. With the soft-close door, little extra features like pyrolytic self-cleaning technology, the end result is a cooler, cleaner cooking experience.

It is streamlined to sit flush with kitchen cabinetry and comes in eight Mediterranean colour options including sunshine yellow, olive green, coral red and burnt orange – making it a tasty addition to any home.

Portofino CPF9PA 126L Thermoseal 90cm Multi-fuel $6990
Portofino CPF9IPA 126L Thermoseal 90cm Induction $8990
Portofino KPFA9 90cm Wall-mount Rangehood 815m3/hr $2990
