Who’d have thought concrete would be the latest must-have luxury material, yet here we are at the end of 2020 with a concrete watch from the venerable Swiss manufacture Hublot and, now, a concrete speaker from Master & Dynamic – the MA770.
Designed in collaboration with architect Sir David Adjaye, the Master & Dynamic MA770 Wireless Speaker swaps traditional wooden cabinets (let’s not even mention MDF) for an enclosure made of a proprietary concrete composite.
The acoustically tuned encasement curves back to a point in the rear while the front is fitted with a flat front panel holding dual woven Kevlar long-throw woofers and a titanium tweeter alongside three channels of discrete amplification totalling 100 watts.
A diamond-cut anodized aluminium control panel lets you switch between optical and 3.5mm aux inputs. The speaker is also bluetooth 4.1 and chromecast wifi compatible while a magnetic, self-centring stainless-steel grille gives you a choice over the hand-finished concrete. It arrives in either black or grey.
