The long-awaited Aston Martin Vantage Roadster has arrived in Australia with the new convertible making its local debut in Sydney before beginning its showroom tour.
The new release gives sees the soft-top join the 2018 released Vantage Coupe, sharing much of its performance and sensibilities.
“We are thrilled to officially unveil our new Vantage Roadster in Australia,” says Patrik Nilsson, President of Aston Martin Asia Pacific. “This special variant takes all the magnificent features our customers enjoy from the Vantage to the next level, truly bringing the senses to life.”
The drop-top two-seater shares the Vantage’s thrill seeking attitude, powered by a 4.0 litre, twin-turbo V8 engine – sourced from friends at Mercedes-AMG – the roadster busts out 385kW and 685Nm of torque.
The power is applied through a ZF-sourced eight-speed automatic (the roadster not available with a manual) into the rear wheels, sprinting the car from 0-100km/h in just 3.7 seconds with a top speed of 306km/h, albeit with the roof up.
The soft-top roof is also pretty speedy, with its Z-fold mechanism lowering and raising in 6.7 and 6.8 seconds respectively, at up to speeds of 50km/h.
Adding to the useability of convertibles, here, Aston claims 200 litres of boot space and while that’s 80 litres short on the coupe the British marque claims it’s enough for a set of golf clubs or a couple of overnight bags.
The Vantage Roadster is priced from $314,635, plus on roads. First customer deliveries commencing Q1 2021.
