Function and designer form take Gogoro’s new range to the front of the pack.

By Terry Christodoulou 02/06/2020

Gogoro, the Taiwanese startup best known for vibrant electric scooters, is ready to pedal a new mode of transport.

Stepping into the burgeoning electric bike market are the Eeyo 1 and 1S Electric, a pair of Kevlar reinforced carbon-fibre framed rides that standout from the dreary pack.

Both come powered by the Eeyo smartwheel – an all-in-one digital drive that neatly integrates the battery, sensors and smart connectivity into a self-contained hub.

At 12.4kg for the Eeyo 1 and 11.8kg for the 1S, both designs have cut the fat, shaving weight by eliminating the seat tube and using aforementioned carbon fibre wherever possible.

The Eeyo 1 & 1S reach a full charge in 2.5 hours and are capable of 30km/h with pedal assistance (no pulling back the throttle here), while boasting a 64-kilometre range in ‘sport’ and 88 kilometres in ‘eco’.

The Eeyo 1 is available in ‘Cloud Blue’ and ‘Lobster Orange’ while the 1S comes in so-called ‘Warm White’.

Prices from approx. $5800 and $6800 respectively.
