Promoting the very best in Italian furniture, lighting, accessories and interior design, Salone del Mobile’s multi-faceted design hub has quickly become the global event in the design industry calendar, where exhibitors from all corners of the globe descend on the city to display their latest and most innovative creations to the world’s industry elite, including top interior designers, stylists and press.
Kicking off the celebrations today, the six-day design extravaganza, which forms part of Milan’s celebrated Design Week, will welcome 26 Australian designers to the 2018 show, as part of an exhibition curated by Sydney stylist and designer Emma Elizabeth. This will be the third year she’s showcased home-grown talent at the event, and her largest Australian contingent to date. An explosion of vibrant colour, pattern and texture, this painstakingly intricate piece (it took 400 hours to produce) by Australian industrial designer Adam Goodrum and French marquetry artisan Arthur Seigneur, combines bold contemporary graphics with delicate shades of post-Pop, retro glamour. Inspired by the lotus flower in full bloom, the “Bloom ” cabinet is made up of 4,320 sections of hand-tinted French rye straw, contrasted by hand-crafted, black-stained oak joinery and a luxurious, silky interior of white maple.
The Bloom cabinet will be exclusively unveiled at this year’s Milan Furniture Fair on April 17 2018. For more information visit www.adamgoodrum.com or www.arthurseigneur.com
