Langham set to open first Australian resort – on Kangaroo Island
Kangaroo Island, Adelaide, Melbourne and Auckland all feature in a major regional upgrade for the group.
The Langham Hospitality Group is set to expand its footprint in Australia, including the announcement of its first resort in Australia on Kangaroo Island.
Announcing a variety of new ventures at a media briefing this week, CEO Robert Warman said that although planning for the Kangaroo Island property is in early stages, he was excited about the project which would highlight the island’s beautiful scenery and abundant native fauna. “It’s a microcosm of what people imagine Australia to be,” he said.
The group’s resort plan will be aided by the recent announcement that QantasLink will be offering direct flights to the island from Adelaide and Melbourne from December.
The Langham Group’s plans include a double treat for South Australia, with the Langham Adelaide to be built in the beachside suburb of Glenelg. This is due to be completed in 2019.
In Melbourne, the group announced an extensive multi-million dollar renovation of its hotel in Southbank, to include an upgrade of the lobby, bathrooms and 9th floor pool area to begin next year.
In addition, the Langham Auckland will soon be rebranded Cordis Auckland. Cordis is the Langham’s upscale brand, catering to both business and leisure travellers. “Our hotel in Auckland fits the Cordis brand perfectly,” Warman said.
“It is well located in the vibrant part of the city, a top-of-mind venue for meetings and events, a favourite for special occasions amongst the locals, and we have experienced colleagues who provide warm and friendly service from the heart.”
The rebranding is set to take place in November this year with a facelift being completed by February 2018.
