Green dialled watches are very much de rigueur this year, with myriad horology brands looking to showcase a more verdant palette. Swiss luxury watchmaker TAG Heuer is no exception.
Here, the manufacture unveils a limited-edition Carrera Green timepiece in a brand-new colour – a more aquatic, or algae-inspired blue-green that arrives with an intense shimmer.
Limited to 500 pieces, the watch embodies the traditions of the first Heuer Carrera models, albeit with a dialled up (sorry) modern elegance and recognisable Riviera style.
The TAG Heuer Carrera Green Limited Edition – its full-name proper – has plenty in common with the original Heuer Carrera ref. 2447. The signature lugs, stylish case, polished push buttons and dial all point to its predecessor. However, the watch’s broader bone structure, which sees the 36mm dial brought out to 39mm – bring it up to date.
The dial boasts a tricompax structure, with three snailed subdials. a minute chronograph at 3 o’clock, hour chronograph at 9 o’clock and a permanent second indicator at 6 o’clock. The hour and minute hands are faceted and coated with Super-LumiNova® for optimum readability.
Behind the retro-style “glass box” domed sapphire crystal, also inspired by the original Heuer Carrera, the dial sports the emblematic Heuer logo and Carrera name.
The TAG Heuer Carrera Green Limited Edition features the Calibre Heuer 02 manufacture movement, which comprises This movement comprises 168 parts, including a column wheel and vertical clutch – a guarantee of outstanding chronometric performance. It also boasts an impressive 80-hour power reserve.
Worn on a black alligator leather strap featuring a folding clasp with two safety push buttons, this model is limited to 500 pieces and engraved with the mention “special edition” on the caseback.
Available from May 2021, this chronograph will be sold exclusively in TAG Heuer boutiques and through the brand’s e-commerce websites. $10,400; tagheuer.com
