TAG Heuer Unveils A New Limited-Edition Monaco

The Swiss manufacture’s purple patch continues with its latest timepiece.

TAG Heuer considers its iconically square-shaped chronograph something of a maverick within its collection. It’s that kind of rule-defying spirit that the Swiss manufacture wants to embolden and elevate — evidenced through its latest never-before-seen edition of only 500 pieces — the TAG Heuer Monaco Purple Dial Limited Edition.

The newcomer features a 39mm square case in fine-brushed and polished steel with a rich purple coloured dial that fades from a dark purple at the edges to a lighter purple in the centre, bringing with it depth and sophistication. Elsewhere, the watch is fitted with rhodium-plated indexes and hands with white Super-Luminova and two black opaline sub-counters, further complementing the smoky design.

Keen-eyed TAG Heuer fanatics and connoisseurs may recognise the watch’s parallels with the Heuer Monaco 1113B. This piece used a metallic blue paint over a brass plate that, over time, would patinate from blue to a dégradé purple colour.

In the 2022 interpretation, TAG Heuer’s in-house chronograph movement, Calibre Heuer 02, is clearly visible through the sapphire case back, and features a customised oscillating mass, column wheel, and engravings, with purple details. It offers outstanding timekeeping performance including a power reserve of 80 hours.

A further luxurious touch comes via the black alligator strap, also with a purple lining, with the inside and the caseback engraved with the piece’s number of 500.

The timepiece will be sold exclusively in TAG Heuer boutiques and is priced at $10,400; tagheuer.com
