This isn’t any rusty old Rolex, this is Rusty’s old Rolex.

Most totems of commemoration aren’t as lavish as a stainless-steel Rolex, however for Australian actor Russell Crowe, an engraved luxury timepiece works wonders.

For sale, via fogcityvintage.com is Crowe’s 2004 Rolex Submariner, which he purchased to mark his time filming the 2005 film Cinderella Man in Toronto, Canada.

The Oscar winner’s 16610 features all the normal fixtures of a ‘Sub’, with a 40mm stainless steel case and bracelet, black dial and bezel.

However, for collectors, the story lies in the caseback, which is hand-engraved to read, “Cinderella Man 2004” on the top and “Vincity Qui Se Vincit RC,” on the borrow. The latin phrase translating to “he conquers who conquers himself”.

Approx. $28,860; fogcityvintage.com
