IWC is hitting the road in celebration of an enduring classic with the Big Pilot Roadshow will be at Federation Square from February 17-20.

The Swiss manufacture’s roadshow began in July 2021, in Edinburgh, and completed 15 stops throughout Europe, United States and Asia before finally landing in Melbourne.

Housed in specially converted shipping containers, the exhibition will offer visitors a detailed look inside the watchmaker’s world, with a specific focus on its 154 years of history and the newest additions to its Big Pilot watch series.

Through the immersive experience, seven-time Formula One champion and brand ambassador Lewis Hamilton will feature, as will local brand friends including Matt Pearson, co-founder of Airspeeder; Emma McKeon, the most successful Australian Olympian and Guy Sebastian, singer-songwriter on a ‘creator wall’ inside the exhibition.

The watchmaker’s 2021 collection of Big Pilot timepieces, which includes the redesigned IWC Big Pilot 43, will also be on display. It’s the latest iteration of a line introduced 80 years ago. Starting out as a functional military watch, the timepiece has become one of today’s most recognised designs. Offering a balance of form and function, the watch features a distinct conical crown (easy for pilots to manoeuvre even with gloves on), a riveted strap and a highly legible dial that takes its cues from cockpit instruments. IWC calls it a model for “pioneers who dare to dream.”

The roadshow is open to the public and will be open 12noon-5pm Thursday and Friday, and 12noon-8pm Saturday and Sunday.
