Louis Vuitton has finally dropped LV2 (‘Louis Vuitton squared’) – a standalone collaboration between men’s artistic director Virgil Abloh and Nigo, founder of cult Japanese streetwear label, A Bathing Ape.
Forged out of Abloh’s admiration for Nigo and his contribution to streetwear and fashion, the pair have come together under the banner of Louis Vuitton for a capsule collection that encompasses ready-to-wear, leather goods, shoes and accessories while playing to LV’s longstanding design codes.
First teased in May, the complete collection shows an array of patchwork takes on LV’s iconic monogram and Damier check patterns, stitched, embroidered or printed on to denim, jackets, trousers, shirts and accessories.
The collaboration, which is Abloh’s first during his tenure at the French maison, sees a range of bags – true to Louis Vuitton’s classic shapes – reimagined to continue the patchworked monogram and Damier check theme alongside accessories like the “LV Made” Duck, a luxe refit of Nigo’s signature motif at his label Human Made.
