Six Luxe Winter Coats

Given the winds and rain that blanket most of the country – it’s time to go winter coat shopping.

By Terry Christodoulou 26/05/2020

Don’t just dust off that old coat at the back of the wardrobe – refresh your look with these cold season must-haves.

Burberry – The Westminster Heritage Trench Coat

When you think coats, it doesn’t come more classic than a Burberry trench. This season, away from the banality of beige, we’ve opted for a more militant khaki number keeping its signature relaxed-fit. Made in England, the 100 per cent cotton gabardine outer coat comes with calf-leather buckles, buffalo horn buttons and iconic check lining and undercollar.

Canali – Wool and Cashmere Blend Overcoat

When exploring essential winter wardrobe pieces, you can’t go past an Italian made overcoat – namely this heightened option from Canali. Timeless in single-breast and navy 3/4 cut, it comes in a wool and cashmere blend that’s fully lined and which marks the cornerstone of any decent wardrobe.

Brioni – Blue Print Casual Bomber Jacket

Protecting yourself from the elements doesn’t have to result in adorning a thick overcoat.  Take this Brioni bomber jacket, with its efficient lines, lightweight Italian made construction, virgin wool collars and cuffs and a water-repellent outer keeping your style high and dry.

Moncler – Hanoverian Quilted Zip-up Coat

There’s no debating Moncler’s influence in the rise of technical outerwear. Luxe, modern and capable in the cold, consider the Hanoverian quilted coat for its 100 per cent feather down and shell-like polyamide outer. And don’t mention Costanza.

Bottega Veneta – Wool Overcoat

A modern and sophisticated shift towards precision-cut tailoring has cloaked the house since Daniel Lee took the helm in 2018. Embrace such here – in this full-length double-breasted wool overcoat. The chocolate brown elevates the piece and can be easily matched to a winter palette.

Gucci – Reversible Logo-Jacquard Cotton and Houndstooth Wool Coat

A two for one offer we’d actually take up – this reversible number boasting classic ‘GG’ monogram on the cotton side and a houndstooth pattern on the woollen side. A looser silhouette that does double duty all winter long.
