KAWS takes the NGV

By Richard Clune 22/09/2019

Brian Donnelly isn’t known as Brian Donnelly. No, he’s best recognised by the moniker he’s long
worn as arguably one of the most successful and prolific artists of his generation – KAWS.

WTF is KAWS? Glad you asked. While known for large-scale sculpture (and miniatures) of hybrid cartoon-human characters, his work also spans paintings, murals, street and public art.

It’s vibrant, it’s fun and it’s coming to Melbourne with a major exhibition at the
National Gallery of Victoria. KAWS: Companionship in the Age of

Loneliness opened September 20; ngv.vic.gov.au
