Craft representing the world’s most feted superyacht brands are expected to drop anchor off Thailand’s luxurious Kata Rocks resort in Phuket for the second annual Superyacht Rendezvous.
From December 8-10, superyacht owners, as well as owners of Kata Rocks villas and a bevy of guests, will enjoy a series of bespoke opportunities. These include a welcome reception on a superyacht, a cruise to a secluded beach for a gourmet BBQ, and private cocktail parties and superyacht owners’ dinners.
The Superyacht Rendezvous will be co-sponsored by famed Dutch superyacht builder Feadship, which will host the exclusive superyacht owners’ dinner for the second consecutive year. Prestigious Italian motor yacht builder Benetti, alongside private jet company Vista Jet, will host an exclusive dinner in Kata Rocks’ iconic Sky Villa Penthouse.
The Kata Rocks resort has a distinctive nautical influence, with the design of all villas influenced by life onboard a superyacht. The accommodation reputedly offers a unique experience by comparison to those at other resorts in Phuket, and elsewhere across the country.
Located at the southern end of Kata Beach, along Phuket’s sunset west coast, Kata Rocks features 34 Sky Pool Villas of one to four bedrooms, each offering its own private infinity-pool and equipped with latest interactive iPad technology. Kata Rocks was voted ‘Best Apartment in the World’ at the London International Property Awards, and in 2016 was named one of the 25 best hotels in South-East Asia by the Conde Nast Travelers 2016 Readers’ Choice Awards.
At last year’s inaugural Superyacht Rendezvous event, 17 superyachts were anchored off Phuket’s west coast, including iconic superyachts such as the 93-metre Lauren L and the 51-metre Northern Sun. Organisers expect an even more impressive turnout for 2017.
Organisers say the Rendezvous captures the imagination of both the yachting world’s sophisticated elite, together with ultra-high net worth individuals, by enticing them to sample ‘emotionally-resonating experiences’.
Another attraction is the pristine beauty of Thailand’s Andaman Sea, which remains relatively unexplored by superyachts despite offering a vast, multicultural cruising ground.
