Coronavirus, or COVID-19, has rapidly put a strain on the lives of those at risk, healthcare workers and also the hospitality industry. Understandably it’s hard to justify a night of dining out in the current age of social distancing and self-isolation. But if you still want a great meal, many of yours, and our favourite restaurants have turned to takeaway to fill the void.

And while it’s certainly not a complete list, with more venues readying their takeaway offerings, here’s a list of the 11 most luxe takeaway options on the east coast.

SYDNEY

Icebergs Dining Room

Bondi institution Icebergs is offering takeaway seven days a week from 6pm until 9.30pm. It’s as simple as calling up, telling them what you’d like and enjoying it from the comfort of your own home. (02) 9365 9000

Saint Peter & Fish Butchery

One of Robb Report’s 2019 Culinary Masters, Josh Niland has launched Mr Niland at Home, a new series of take-home dinner packs cooked by the teams at Saint Peter and Fish Butchery. Just needs a bit of attention when you get it home. Fishbutchery.com.au

Sean’s Panorama

Another Bondi favourite, Sean’s Panorama is offering a takeaway menu, that true to the Sean’s ethos, changes every day. To order call (02) 9365 4924, email panaroma@bigpond.net or send Sean a direct message on Instagram @seanmoran64.

MELBOURNE

Grossi Florentino

Grossi Florentino’s Cellar Bar menu, filled with pastas and homely dishes like the crumbed veal and slaw, is now available as take away.  You can also purchase single and family serves of fresh pasta and sauce to cook at home – a more decadent way to shop for Italian.

Etta

Brunswick East’s Etta has created a travel-friendly menu that can either be picked up or delivered. On the menu is Flank steak with black, garlic and turnip or a cheese selection with lavosh and fig and much more. To order call on (03) 9448 8233.

Ishizuka

Keep it luxe with the Japanese restaurant‘s ‘luxuriant’ bento box to takeaway, the single-layer bento ($150) feeds 1-2 people and the premium ($255) for 3-4 people, order via email at reservation@ishizuka.com.au or call (03) 8594 00895.

BRISBANE

Stanley

A newcomer to Brisbane, the restaurant has a range of Cantonese dishes, such as char siu pork, roast duck, salads and fried rice. Order online, via Deliveroo or Uber eats or call (07) 3558 9418.

Montrachet

From Monday, the stalwart French diner will be offering semi-prepared takeaway packs from its Bowen Hills front.  The finest French cooking should be coming from your stovetop in mere minutes. Stay tuned to their Instagram account for further details.

Labart

While not quite Brisbane, the Burleigh heads diner has announced a temporary closure, instead cooking home-style meals for diners to order takeaway or to be delivered. The food is to be rustic including classic French dishes like coq au vin.
