Thailand’s Chiva-Som adds specific golf fitness to its wellness program

Surprising but true: wellness retreats aren’t everyone’s idea of a relaxing time. But then, neither is golf. Chiva-Som, the multiply-awarded wellness destination in Hua Hin, Thailand, now has both those bases covered after undergoing a six-month major renovation.

Chiva-Som’s own reinvigoration – its first in 23 years – comprised a complete overhaul of its Thai Pavilions, Emerald Room, Orchid Lounge, Library, Fitness Centre and Niranlada Medi-Spa, the redesign focusing on creating brighter and more serene spaces through the use of local, sustainable materials including teak, silk and bamboo.

The Emerald Room dining space is celebrating its makeover with a visit from acclaimed chef Keisuke Matsushima, who will serve his French-Japanese fusion dishes and conduct exclusive cooking classes during a three-day residency, from 8-11 December.

The Total Golf Enhancement Retreat, meanwhile, is said to suit players of all levels and provides specialist golf fitness training and education in biomechanics. Guests can also learn and experience post-game muscle recovery, relaxation and skincare – and have their improvements put to the test during included rounds of golf with an accredited professional at one of Hua Hin’s leading courses.
