Xbox and Porsche have revved up for a supercharged collaboration. Fear not — the duo haven’t swapped the steering wheel of a 911 for a console controller; as we all know how that turns out.
Instead, the American gaming brand is celebrating the German marque’s 75th anniversary by giving its Series X console a motorsport-ready makeover. The collaboration sees the Xbox Series X decked out in six distinct Porsche liveries, each inspired by some of the marque’s most iconic looks. Among them, the Porsche Hippie, identifiable by its deep blue and bright green colourway; Porsche Pink Pig, which looks like it sounds; Porsche Salzburg, the marque’s first Le Mans winner; and Porsche 75th, the current livery on the 963.
The collaboration is an apt one, with immersive racing gaming—such as Forza and DiRT Rally 2.0—serving as the first touchpoint with the marque for many Porsche customers and fans.
“Many people who end up being our most dedicated fans had their first encounter with Porsche through gaming,” says Robert Ader, VP of Global Marketing at Porsche AG. “That’s why it plays a key role for us to stay relevant not just among current fans but among new generations, showcasing in the most awesome and engaging way what our brand has to offer.”
“Xbox and its fan base are no stranger to Porsche and the incredible capabilities of its high-performance vehicles in our beloved racing and driving games like Forza Horizon 5,” adds Marcos Waltenberg, director of Global Partnerships at Xbox. “That’s why we’re excited to team up with the renowned sports car brand to create special edition Xbox hardware that celebrates their milestone anniversary given our shared vision and goal of reaching global audiences who love cars, gaming and self-expression.”
While the Porsche Xbox Series X consoles aren’t for sale, they’re available via a sweepstakes giveaway, which runs from 8th June to 1st October and is open to residents of the United States, United Kingdom, and Germany.
