Gold Coast-based Maritimo takes centre stage in Miami
Australian luxury cruiser manufacturer Maritimo was one of the star attractions at the Miami International Boat Show this week with the global premiere of its ‘Beamy’ M59 cruising motor yacht.
The three cabin, two bathroom vessel has a wide beam and a large back opening lazerette similar to the larger M64 and smaller M51 yachts. The large space at the rear makes it ideal as a tender that can accommodate a range of water toys, Maritimo spokesman Greg Haines says.
"The cockpit is accessed from both sides with openings to the optional hydraulic swim platform, and because of the boat's large beam the space is substantial.”
The M59 (above) will be offered for sale for $US2.14 million (or about $A2.78 million) at the Miami show, which is one of the largest boat shows in the US with around 100,000 attending the 2016 event. It is the first major boat show since the inauguration of US President Donald Trump and looms as a litmus test for the luxury economy in the US.
"From all reports we are getting there is a level of confidence in the economy in the US right now that is quite strong," Haines says.

The Miami show is the second major event in February for Maritimo, which opened a new waterfront facility at The Marine Village, Sanctuary Cove. It will permanently display up to $10 million worth of yachts and features a complete working replica of the galley from a Maritimo M70 cruising motoryacht.
Maritimo CEO Garth Corbitt says the new sales and marketing hub at Sanctuary Cove would continue to grow the brand’s presence and visibility in the global boating community. "Our aim is to produce the best motor yachts in the world," he says.
"The Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show is a major event on the world boat show calendar and attracts people from around the globe so our new facility will position us front and centre at that important event and gives us a prime base to showcase our products throughout the rest of the year.”
