Starting today until March 8, Watches of Switzerland in Sydney will play host to an exhibition of the House of Breguet’s high-jewellery offerings.
The month-long showcase will highlight Breguet’s watchmaking and the extraordinary detail and new techniques that go into revolutionising gem setting.
Breguet have brought with them six of these rare offerings, all of which are ornately encrusted with technical diamond settings, pearl features or sculptural hideaways, appealing to their long-standing female clientele.
And although the House of Breguet are aiming to bring the handiwork of their jewellers to the fore, the highest skills of horology are still at the core.
Here at Robb Report, we’ve broken down the three must-see timepieces at Watches of Switzerland.
The “Petite Fleur” is an 18-carat yellow gold wristwatch set with 43 ‘petals’ of baguette-cut diamonds, the total of which amounts to 12.56 carats. That’s without the snow-set inward sloping dial that is paved with approximately 141 diamonds boosting the total to 13 carats. The watch is priced at $285,900
The “Rêve de Plume,” like the Petite Fleur is an 18-carat rose gold wristwatch. The bezel, dial flange and lug of which are set with 116 diamonds. The watch also features a feather motif that is, you guessed it, set in 21 baguette-cut diamonds while the dial is snow-set with 81 diamonds atop the mother of pearl dial. With a total of 218 diamonds this timepiece the watch is recommended at $187,900.
The “Secret de la Reine” is unlike the others, in that it has no statement diamond setting. Instead, there is a hand-sculpted cameo floral decoration which hides and reveals the dial. That’s not to say there isn’t any bling, the bow motif is paved with 596 diamonds totalling almost 3.64 carats. The piece is priced at $123,000.
Serendipitously, these watches have arrived just in time for Valentine’s Day, if you’re yet to get a gift.
