Azimut to launch five of the best at Cannes show
Azimut Yachts will launch four innovative models and a reconfigured design at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September.

For nearly two decades, Azimut Yachts has distinguished itself by consistently launching a wide collection of models, while at the same time never failing to inject fresh ideas into yacht design. More often than not, the company's innovations have created new trends for yachting, prompting competitors to change their boats to keep up.
The Italian giant is launching four yachts at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September, and has made extensive interior-configuration changes to another. They are more than just refreshes of existing models, but exciting new additions that promise to up the ante in their respective classes. Here are five yachts from Azimut that will be in Cannes.
Azimut Grande 27 Metri
When you create a new yacht class, why limit it to one length? The 27-metre 27 Metri follows its larger sistership with a wide body to enhance the interior experience. Salvagni's three interior design choices, Dolce Vita, Riviera, and Gran Milano, will appeal to different tastes, but they are all bright, modern, and refined.
The full-beam master suite has a floor-to-ceiling window that allows for exceptional views. Owners have the option of three or four staterooms on the deck below. Azimut also used 100-percent carbon fibre in the superstructure. That added structural strength and weight savings let the designers expand the interior volume. With its twin 1900 hp (1417kW) MANs, the 27 Metri has a top end of 27 knots and cruises at 24. The boat also has crew quarters for two.
Azimut Grande 35 Metri
The 35 Metri yacht, the new flagship of the Italian builder's exclusive Grande line, takes a fresh approach to the 30-metre-plus yacht segment. The 35-metre 35 Metri combines a raised pilothouse with a wide-body interior. Stefano Righini's raised-pilothouse design maintains the 35's low, graceful profile, while the wide body adds interior volume. Floor-to-ceiling windows in the bow and saloon light up the Achille Salvagni interior.
Azimut has an optional 30-square-metre sundeck to expand outdoor living space. Building the entire superstructure and hardtop from pure carbon fibre gives a sense of the 35's quality construction. The 35 Metri has a maximum speed of 25.5 knots with its twin 2400 hp (1790kW) MTU diesels, and cruises at a sprightly 21 knots. It has a master suite, four other VIP staterooms for guests, and four quarters for crew.
Azimut S7 Yacht
The new S7 yacht is a breakthrough for Azimut's highly innovative "S" series, a collection that created a new category when it was launched just more than a decade ago. The Stefano Righini exterior includes an enclosed helm area that doubles as an interior saloon, with lounges, tables, and galley. Full-beam doors at the rear give the owners the option of climate-controlled living or connecting to the great outdoors. The diamond-patterned window along the sides lends a distinctive edge to the smart, new design.
The full-beam master suite on the S7 also looks like it belongs on a larger yacht. Interiors on this model are by Francesco Guida. The 21-metre yacht is powered by triple Volvo IPS systems to give it a top end of 35 knots. The S7 cruises at 31 knots. The added benefits of the IPS drive configuration include joy-stick manoeuvring and added space for a tender garage. The S7 comes in Coupe or Sportfly versions. The Sportfly's upper helm and small fly, while enhancing liveability, have minimal impact on the boat's sporty profile.
Azimut 60 Flybridge
The new 60 Flybridge, with its sportboat profile and slender-looking upper deck, is a sea change from typical boxy-looking flybridge yacht models. The Righini exterior has the same square footage of other 18-metre flybridge models, but the Azimut 60 Flybridge's slender overhang at the stern almost disappears within the lines of the yacht. The boat's long, unbroken side windows, trapezoid bow, and subtle curves also add to its new, softer look.
The 60 Fly reaches a top end of 32 knots, with a cruise speed of 28 knots. It will be offered in the Riviera and Gran Milano interior decor packages, both of which include contrasting light- and dark-coloured woods with leather accents. Despite the handsome looks, the 60 Fly was designed with ultimate comfort and space in mind, from the foredeck sunbeds, to the large, open saloon, to the commodious flybridge. It has three staterooms for owner and guests, and one crew cabin.
Azimut 50 Flybridge
Who says you can't improve a good thing? The 50 Fly won't be a brand-new model at Cannes, but Azimut has improved the interior design by bringing the galley from the lower deck onto the main deck. The galley-up configuration, typically favoured by American owners, adds to a more convivial atmosphere to the open saloon, while also allowing owner-operators to be chefs rather than galley slaves. The other positive about the configuration is that there is more space below decks for a second saloon or larger staterooms.
The 50 Fly shares the new 60's svelte profile, with the same generous but understated 17.5-square-metre flybridge. The three-stateroom layout includes a full-beam master suite, a VIP in the bow, and a double cabin on the starboard side. The master has large picture windows on both sides. The saloon is bright and airy, thanks to the large windows. The dining table for six sits across from the helm, and a large area is ideal socialising.
Carlo Galeazzi designed the interiors, whose options include dark-stained or pickled oak, with ivory and brown fabrics that give a subdued but warm sensibility. A crew cabin is optional. Top end is 32 knots and cruise is 26 knots with the Volvo D11 engines.
